Thursday, April 23
Good morning.
It's 81 degrees today with a 30 percent afternoon shower chance, Flower & Garden is heading into its final stretch, and somewhere in the Magic Kingdom parking lot right now a family is boarding the tram while another family 50 miles east is boarding the Disney Wish with a Dole Whip in one hand and a Bahamas-bound dream in the other.
They're both having a great day. One of them is having two vacations in one.
Here's what matters today.

3 Nights at Sea. 4 Nights on Property. The Disney Trip Most Families Don't Know How to Book.
Here's a Disney vacation most families never consider. Three nights on a Disney cruise out of Port Canaveral followed by four nights at a Walt Disney World resort. Two vacations. One week. Zero flight connections.
Port Canaveral is roughly 50 minutes from Walt Disney World property. Disney built their East Coast cruise hub there specifically because of that proximity - and they still offer ground transfers between the port and WDW resorts as a cruise add-on, which is the piece that makes this trip logistically painless.
One thing to know up front.
Disney used to sell this as a single bundled package. As of January 2, 2026, they no longer do. You now book the cruise and the resort stay as two separate reservations. That actually works in your favor - the separate bookings let you stack discounts that the old bundle wouldn't allow, including room-only deals, the Kids Eat Free dining plan, and Disney+ Perks member rates.
How the week actually plays out.
Friday: Board in Port Canaveral. Unpack once. The ship sets sail in the afternoon.
Saturday: Nassau. Take an excursion, stay aboard and use the ship like a floating resort, or walk into town for shopping and beaches.
Sunday: Castaway Cay. This is the day that sells the cruise. Disney's private island is the only port where the ship docks directly to shore. You walk off the gangway onto white sand and spend the day at a private Disney-themed beach with BBQ lunch included, snorkeling lagoons, and character appearances in swimwear. Guests who've done dozens of Disney trips consistently rank this as their favorite Disney day anywhere.
Monday: Disembark. Disney ground transfer takes you from Port Canaveral to your WDW resort. You're checked in and at Magic Kingdom by afternoon.
Monday through Thursday: Four days in the parks. Enough time for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, and a rest day at the resort pool.
Why this combo beats either trip alone.
A 7-night cruise is amazing but most families don't want a full week at sea. A 7-night WDW trip is amazing but most families are wrecked by day 6. Three and four splits the difference perfectly. You pack once at home. Disney moves your bags from ship to resort. You sleep in two completely different settings without lifting a suitcase between them. You eat at Disney restaurants for a week with zero planning effort. You experience two completely different sides of Disney in one trip.
The move.
If you've been on the fence between a cruise and a park trip, do both. Book the cruise through Disney Cruise Line, book the WDW stay directly with Walt Disney World, and add the ground transfer between the two. It's two reservations, one trip, zero flight connections between them.
The families who figure this out early often never book a single Disney vacation again. They always do both.

โก Daily Disney QUICK HITS
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Reopening Date Confirmed - Disney announced April 16 that Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will officially open at Hollywood Studios on May 26, 2026. The full set list of five songs replacing the Aerosmith tracks has been revealed, along with nine celebrity appearances in the reimagined queue. If you've been waiting for the Muppet overhaul, book the trip.
2027 Vacation Packages Now Bookable - WDW vacation packages, park tickets, and hotel reservations for January 1 through October 31, 2027 launched April 16. If you're one of those families who plans a year out, the 2027 booking window is open now. Early booking typically locks in the best resort availability for holiday weeks.
Kennedy Space Center Day Trip from WDW - For families staying at Disney property and looking for a half-day break from the parks, Kennedy Space Center is about 60 minutes east on the Beachline Expressway. The visitor complex features the Saturn V rocket, astronaut encounters, and the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit. A legitimately different kind of Florida day without leaving the vacation window.
Disney Restaurant Booking Window: 60 Days Out - Resort guests can book dining reservations 60 days before check-in for their entire stay length, up to 10 nights. Off-site guests get the same 60-day window but only for single-day reservations. This is one of the underrated advantages of staying on property - you can lock in hard-to-get restaurants like Be Our Guest and Cinderella's Royal Table weeks before off-site guests even have access.

Daily Disney Insider Tip
The best seat at Flight of Passage isn't where you think.
Everyone thinks the best row on Flight of Passage is the front row. It's not. The optimal seat is actually the middle row, center position - row 2, seat 3. The screen surrounds you completely from that spot, the 3D effect lands cleaner, and you avoid the slight peripheral distortion that happens in the front and back rows of each vehicle.
Most cast members won't volunteer this information but will accommodate if you politely ask. When you get to the final load area, ask the cast member if you can hold for the middle row. On a non-peak day they'll usually say yes. You might wait one or two banshee cycles extra. Worth every second.
The best experiences at Disney are often three feet from where everyone else is sitting.
๐ Today's Crowd Size Snapshot
Magic Kingdom - Moderate. Standard Thursday. Buzz Lightyear and Tiana's Bayou Adventure continue to be the longest midday waits. Fantasyland is walkable before 11am.
EPCOT - Moderate. Festival continues. Test Track drawing consistent lines all day. World Showcase pleasant in the evening with festival booths still humming.
Animal Kingdom - Light. Another ideal AK day. Pandora is the priority if you haven't hit it this trip. Trails are active with the cooler morning temperatures.
Hollywood Studios - Moderate. Rise running. Slinky Dog and Tower of Terror both manageable mid-morning. Fantasmic showtimes still listed for tonight on the app.
Strategy: Thursday is typically the quietest weekday of the week at all four parks. If you have one park left to hit and limited time, today is the day to knock it out. Friday crowds bump noticeably as weekend visitors arrive. Any park is a solid play today but AK continues to be the lightest.

๐ข The Porthole - Disney Cruise Line
Castaway Cay vs. Lookout Cay - which Disney private island should you pick?
This is the question cruisers ask when comparing itineraries. Castaway Cay has been the Disney Cruise Line private island since 1998 and is the classic experience - Pelican Plunge water slides, the Flying Dutchman photo op, Castaway Family Beach, the adult-only Serenity Bay, and the famous 5K run along the beach. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point in Eleuthera is newer, opened June 2024, and leans into Bahamian cultural experiences with Goombay music, conch bar, open-air pavilions, and different snorkeling terrain. Castaway Cay is the nostalgia pick. Lookout Cay is the new hotness. Many Disney Wish itineraries now include both on the same sailing.
๐ค 7-Day Weather Forecast โ Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Trend: Thursday and Friday are the best weather days of the week - Friday is bone dry at 85 degrees, zero rain. The weekend brings warmer temperatures and afternoon storm chances climb toward 40 percent Sunday. Next week pushes into the upper 80s consistently, which will start to feel like genuine pre-summer Florida. The comfortable shoulder season window is narrowing fast.
๐ฏ Final Take
Most Disney families view a cruise and a park trip as two separate decisions - either this year or next year, either the ship or the parks, pick one.
The families who figure out you don't have to choose are the ones having the most magical weeks of their lives. One flight into Orlando. One flight home. Seven nights of Disney in between, split between two completely different versions of the same brand.
You eat at the same quality of restaurants. You meet the same characters. You see the same level of theming. But the ship gives you ocean, private beaches, and Broadway shows at sea. The parks give you Cinderella Castle, fireworks, and rides that cost a billion dollars to build.
Neither is better. Together, they're unforgettable.
See you tomorrow.
