Friday, May 8
Good morning.
Friday in Lake Buena Vista is 91 degrees and dropping to partly sunny, which in Florida means "bring the poncho just in case." The Mandalorian & Grogu drops in theaters in exactly two weeks, and the new Smugglers Run mission at Hollywood Studios launches the same day.
The Florida resident ticket deal expires May 16, so expect a crowd bump over the next week as locals burn their remaining visits. And today's Top Story is about a perk you already paid for, probably forgot you had, and definitely haven't downloaded yet.
Here's what matters today.
๐ฏ Top Story

There's a free perk hiding inside every Multi Pass purchase
Every Lightning Lane Multi Pass purchase at Walt Disney World comes with free digital downloads of every on-ride photo taken that day. Not just the rides you use Lightning Lane on. Every ride with a camera, all day long, included in what you already paid for. Most families never open their photo gallery to check.
Here's the full list of rides with cameras.
Magic Kingdom: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Haunted Mansion, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Pirates of the Caribbean, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Space Mountain.
Hollywood Studios: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (Muppets version opens May 26), Tower of Terror, Slinky Dog Dash.
EPCOT: Frozen Ever After, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track.
Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest.
Your MagicBand or MagicBand+ automatically links the photos to your My Disney Experience account after each ride. If you don't have a MagicBand, find your picture on the preview screen after the ride, note the attraction photo ID displayed at the bottom, enter it into the app, and it gets added to your gallery.
To download: open the app, tap the menu, go to Disney PhotoPass, and they're sitting there waiting for you. They're yours. You already paid for them.
One important distinction: Multi Pass at Walt Disney World includes on-ride attraction photos and videos only. It does not include photos taken by in-park PhotoPass photographers or Magic Shots. If you want everything, including photographer photos, you'll need Memory Maker ($185 if purchased in advance). But for most families, the on-ride photos alone are worth dozens of dollars in individual downloads you'd otherwise be paying for one at a time.
The math is simple. A single digital photo download from Disney PhotoPass runs about $15 to $20. Ride four rides with cameras in one day and your Multi Pass just paid for a chunk of itself in photos alone. Most families ride far more than four. They just never check the app to see what's waiting for them.
Stop leaving free photos on the table. Open the app tonight and download them.

โก Daily Disney QUICK HITS
Extended Evening Hours are rotating parks this month. Instead of the usual Magic Kingdom Wednesday / EPCOT Monday pattern, Animal Kingdom gets Extended Evening Hours on May 4 and May 13, and Hollywood Studios gets May 11. This only applies to guests at Deluxe Resorts, DVC Villas, and select other hotels, but if you're eligible and visiting this month, check the specific dates before you plan your evenings.
The Refreshment Port at EPCOT is being replaced by La Poutinerie hosted by Air Canada when it reopens from its current refurbishment. A Canadian poutine stand in World Showcase. That's new territory for EPCOT, and Flower & Garden regulars who relied on the Refreshment Port as a quick stop near Canada should plan accordingly.
The Florida resident ticket deal expires May 16. Wait time data from the last three years shows crowds spike in the final two to three weeks of these "use it or lose it" promotions. If you're visiting between now and May 16 and wondering why Tuesday feels like Saturday, that's why.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters May 22, and the same day, the new Mandalorian & Grogu mission launches on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Hollywood Studios. The original mission stays available alongside it. Expect Galaxy's Edge to run at peak capacity for the first two weeks.

Daily Disney Insider Tip
The resort refillable mug is one of the best small purchases on property, and most families either don't know it exists or buy one and forget to use it.
For $21.99 plus tax, you get a refillable mug valid at your Disney resort's food court for the entire length of your stay. Coffee in the morning before rope drop. Soda after the pool. Hot chocolate with the kids before bed. Unlimited refills at the beverage stations inside your resort's quick-service restaurant. The mugs have an RFID chip that activates the drink dispensers, so you just hold it under the machine and it pours.
The break-even math is fast. A single fountain drink at a Disney resort runs about $4. By lunch on day one, the mug has paid for itself. Over a five-night stay, a family of four buying individual drinks would spend $80 to $100. Four mugs cost $88 plus tax and cover unlimited drinks for the entire trip. If you drink resort coffee every morning (and you will, because rope drop requires it), the savings compound quickly.
Buy it at check-in. Use it every time you pass through the food court. It's one of the few things at Disney World that gets cheaper the more you use it.
๐ Today's Crowd Size Snapshot
Magic Kingdom is moderate. Friday kicks off the weekend build, but May shoulder season keeps things manageable. Seven Dwarfs, TRON, and Big Thunder hold the longest waits.
EPCOT is moderate. Flower & Garden in its final month continues pulling locals. Soarin' Around the World has 6 days left. Good standby day for Guardians and Frozen Ever After.
Animal Kingdom is light to moderate. Friday is middling here historically. Rope drop Flight of Passage and Kilimanjaro Safaris before noon.
Hollywood Studios is heavy. Friday is consistently one of the busiest days at this park. Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash will hold long waits into the evening.
Strategy: EPCOT is the move today for anyone who hasn't ridden Soarin' Around the World yet. Six days left for the current film. Pair it with Outdoor Kitchens and a World Showcase evening. Animal Kingdom in the morning if you need Flight of Passage. Avoid Hollywood Studios unless you have Lightning Lane.

๐ข The Porthole - Disney Cruise Line
Every Bahamian and Caribbean sailing on every Disney ship has a Pirate Night, and it is one of the most underestimated evenings in the Disney cruise experience. The entire ship transforms. The pool deck becomes a pirate stage. Captain Jack Sparrow makes a live appearance (the only regularly scheduled Jack Sparrow appearance in the Disney ecosystem). There's a dedicated pirate-themed dinner in the main rotational dining room, a fireworks show launched from the ship (the only cruise line that does fireworks at sea), and a deck party that runs until midnight. Disney provides free pirate bandanas at dinner. Kids can get full pirate makeovers at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on board. The families who pack their own pirate costumes are the ones who get the most out of it. Check your Navigator app on embarkation day for the exact schedule and plan your dinner seating around the fireworks.
๐ค 7-Day Weather Forecast โ Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Trend: Temperatures ease off the mid-week peak into the upper 80s for the weekend. Still hot, still humid, still Florida in May. Mid-60s overnight lows keep rope drop comfortable. The AC show break and the refillable mug are your two best friends this week.
๐ฏ Final Take
Disney is full of things you already paid for and forgot to use.
The free ice water at every counter. The on-ride photos sitting in your app. The refillable mug gathering dust on the hotel dresser. The Baby Care Center you walked past six times. The Friendship Boats you didn't know existed. The AC show that would have saved your afternoon.
The most expensive Disney trips aren't the ones where families spent the most. They're the ones where families paid for things they could have gotten for free, or left perks on the table they didn't know they had.
The best planning isn't about spending more. It's about using what's already there.
See you tomorrow.
