Thursday, April 16
Good morning.
It's race day at Walt Disney World. The runDisney Springtime Surprise weekend officially kicks off today, which means EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are about to feel it in the mornings through Sunday. If those parks are in your plans this weekend, read the Quick Hits.
Meanwhile, Lightning Lane Premier Pass hit $449 per person during spring break and sold out completely. Four hundred and forty-nine dollars. For one person. To skip lines. Once.
There's a better way. And it might actually cost you less.
Here's what matters today.
๐ฏ Top Story

The $315 Disney Experience That Makes Lightning Lane Look Like a Scam.
Here's something Disney doesn't advertise on billboards. Their Private VIP Tour gives your group of up to 10 people a dedicated guide - a Cast Member in a plaid vest - who essentially turns the entire park into your personal playground for the day.
Every line. Skipped. Every ride. Walk on. Reserved viewing for parades and fireworks. Backstage transportation between parks. A completely customized itinerary built around what your group wants to do. Not what the app tells you is available. What you actually want.
It is the single most extraordinary way to experience Walt Disney World. And the math is about to change how you think about it.
The VIP Tour is priced by the hour for the entire group - not per person. Starting at $450 per hour with a minimum of 7 hours, that's $3,150 at the base rate. Sounds enormous. Until you split it.
Ten people. $3,150. That's $315 per person.
Now compare that to Lightning Lane Premier Pass - which hit $449 per person during spring break and has been selling out entirely on peak days. Premier Pass gets you skip-the-line access with no guide, no customization, no backstage transportation, and no reserved parade or fireworks viewing. It's a good product. But it's not this.
And here's the detail that separates them completely.
With Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you ride each attraction exactly once. One shot at TRON. One shot at Guardians. One and done. That's the rule.
With the VIP Tour, you can ride any ride as many times as you want. Love TRON? Ride it three times in a row. Your guide walks you right back through. No argument. No extra charge. No limit. The tour is yours for the full 7 to 10 hours and the rides are unlimited.
Your guide isn't just a line-skipper. They're a Disney encyclopedia. They'll tell you stories about the parks that aren't in any book, point out hidden details you've walked past a hundred times, and adjust the itinerary on the fly based on wait times, weather, and your group's energy level. If someone in your group needs a break, the guide pivots. If a ride goes down, they reroute instantly. It's a completely different level of experience.
The hack that makes this accessible.
Find 10 like-minded Disney fans - friends, family, couples you travel with, or even people from your Disney Facebook groups - and fill that tour to capacity. Split evenly. Pay less per person than Premier Pass. Experience infinitely more.
A few things to know before you book.
The VIP Tour works as a group. Everyone moves together. You can't split up and go your own way. All decisions are made collectively - so make sure your group is aligned on priorities before you book. The right group makes this the greatest Disney day of your life. The wrong group makes it complicated. Choose your people wisely.
Park tickets are required separately and are not included in the tour price. That's an additional cost per person on top of the tour split.
Pricing ranges from $450 to $950 per hour depending on the date. Peak holidays and weekends are at the top of that range. Midweek during slower seasons gives you the best value. The minimum is 7 hours and the maximum is 10.
Book by calling Disney directly at (407) 560-4033, up to 60 days in advance. These tours sell out - especially during peak weeks - so book early.
Two deals worth knowing about right now. Disney is currently offering a 20% discount on VIP Tours for DVC members and Club Level resort guests on select dates from April 26 through October 3, 2026 (blacked out May 22-24 and July 3-5). And a new pilot program launched this month that lets travel agents book VIP Tours as vacation package add-ons for the first time - meaning your travel planner can bundle the tour into your trip instead of you calling separately.
The best Disney experiences aren't always the ones you find on the app. Sometimes they're the ones you call a phone number for.

โก Daily Disney QUICK HITS
runDisney Springtime Surprise: Race Weekend Is Here - Races run April 16-20. Course routes impact EPCOT and Hollywood Studios access during early morning hours April 17-19. Expect heavier crowds at both parks as finishers flood in mid-morning. If you're at WDW this weekend, MK and AK are your cleanest morning plays. Save EPCOT and HS for afternoons.
Soarin' Around the World: 27 Days - Permanent closure May 13. The Taj Mahal, the Great Wall, the Serengeti elephants - 27 more days and they're gone for good. Soarin' Across America debuts May 26.
Flower & Garden Festival: Final Month - The Springtime menus at the Outdoor Kitchens run through May 10. Garden Rocks concerts continue at America Gardens Theatre - 5:30pm, 6:45pm, and 8pm, included with admission. If you haven't tried the new booth items, the clock is ticking.
VIP Tours Now Bookable as Vacation Package Add-Ons - A new pilot program launched this month allows travel agents to bundle VIP Tours into Walt Disney World vacation packages for the first time. Previously, tours had to be booked separately by phone. If you use a travel planner, ask them about this option.

Daily Disney Insider Tip
The VIP Tour timing trick - book midweek in September for the lowest rate.
VIP Tour pricing is date-based, just like park tickets. The $450/hour floor rate is available during Disney's slowest periods - late August, September, and early January. The $950/hour ceiling hits during Christmas week, spring break, and holiday weekends.
A Tuesday in mid-September at $450/hour for 7 hours is $3,150 split 10 ways - $315 per person. That same tour on Christmas week could run $6,650 or more - $665 per person. Same experience. Same guide. Same unlimited rides. The date you pick determines whether this is a splurge or a steal.
๐ Today's Crowd Size Snapshot
Magic Kingdom - Moderate. Unaffected by runDisney. Good day across all lands. Buzz wait times are settling into normal patterns. If you've been putting off MK, today through Sunday is actually your cleanest window since the races pull crowds toward EPCOT and HS.
EPCOT - Moderate-Heavy. Race weekend starts impacting morning access tomorrow. Today is the last clean EPCOT morning before the runners arrive. Festival baseline plus Thursday locals.
Animal Kingdom - Light. Gorgeous weather. Unaffected by race weekend. Safaris, Gorilla Falls, Flight of Passage in the evening. AK remains the relaxation play.
Hollywood Studios - Moderate. Tomorrow morning access gets impacted by race routes. Today is your last clean HS morning this week. Rise is running. Tower and Slinky Dog manageable.
Strategy: If EPCOT or Hollywood Studios are on your list this week, today is better than Friday through Sunday. Race weekend shifts morning crowd patterns at both parks starting tomorrow. MK and AK are unaffected all weekend and actually benefit from the crowd redistribution.

๐ข The Porthole - Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Treasure is currently sailing a 7-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary out of Port Canaveral right now - and summer sailings are booking fast.
The newest ship in the fleet runs alternating Eastern and Western Caribbean routes all summer from Florida's Space Coast, roughly 50 minutes from Walt Disney World. If you're already planning a WDW trip, tacking a cruise onto the front or back end is one of the smartest combos in Disney travel - no flights, no connections, just a short drive from the parks to the port. The Treasure features a Haunted Mansion-themed bar called The Haunted Mansion Parlor, an Aladdin stage show, and every sailing stops at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. Summer 2026 sail dates run through late September.
๐ค 7-Day Weather Forecast โ Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Trend: Thursday and Friday are the driest days of the stretch - virtually zero rain and highs in the mid-80s. Friday hits 87, the warmest day of the week, so hydrate aggressively. The weekend brings a slight uptick in afternoon rain chances alongside race crowds. By Monday the typical PM shower pattern is back. If you want dry park days, you're in them right now.
๐ฏ Final Take
Lightning Lane Premier Pass costs $449 per person on a busy day. You ride each ride once. You navigate the parks alone. You stare at an app trying to figure out what to book next.
A VIP Tour costs $315 per person with a full group. You ride anything you want as many times as you want. A Cast Member in a plaid vest walks you through backstage corridors, tells you stories about the parks, adjusts your day in real time, and makes every line disappear.
One costs more and gives you less. The other costs less and gives you everything.
Most people don't know the VIP Tour exists. The ones who do never go back to standing in line.
See you tomorrow.
